Biography

Xavier Moore is a street and portrait photographer based in Birmingham, AL. For over 10 years, Xavier has documented the evolution of immediate geography, from the polished new additions to the neglected neighborhoods of the majority black town. Now, he turns his eye to its citizens, both the unforgettable and the ones who refuse to be forgotten. Inspired by photographers such as Bruce Gilden, Serkan Tekin, Gav Robinson, and Garry Winogrand, Xavier's style explores representation, evokes spontaneity, and exudes intimacy. Xavier fearlessly shows his love for the Magic City with each assaulting pop of the flash, committed to keeping its denizens within the persistence of memory. His street photography has appeared on the cover of Aura Literary Review and has been featured in Artopia: The State of Art 2012 and at Studio 2500 in Birmingham.

Before he heard the call of the streets, Xavier has always been an avid portrait photographer. Likening his photos to those in an old family album, Xavier specializes in capturing candid moments of his models. To him, representing the subject in their most authentic self is paramount above all else, and his keen observations and quick reflexes suit him well to always catch the decisive moments. In 2019, Xavier joined with Studio 2500 as their resident studio photographer.
